Rosehip Oil Night Skin Care Routine

How is rosehip beneficial to our skin? When should you use it and how often can you use it?

Rose hips are the fruit of roses and can be found under the flower’s petals. Rosehip oil and rosehip seed oil refer to the same thing!

Rosehip oil is rich in vitamin A and vitamin A in skin care also comes in the form of retinol and tretinoin.  The Rosehip Oil is rich in natural tretinoin, a very potent form of vitamin A, more potent than retinol.  It can help stimulate collagen and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Retinol is a type of retinoid (vitamin A), and it is commonly used in concentrations ranging from low strength (0.1% to 0.3%) to high strength (1% or more). Rosehip oil typically contains around 0.03% of tretinoin. Tretinoin is a potent retinoid and can make your skin highly sensitive to sunlight in concentrations of 0.05% or higher.

Hence, when you use rosehip oil, it's advisable not to use it with tretinoin in the same routine to avoid burning or damaging your skin.

Rosehip oil is also rich in beta-carotene, a powerful antioxidant which helps prevent UV-induced skin damage. There are more benefits of this oil and using it in your skin care can help protect your skin.

Here's how I Use it: I use The Ordinary Cold pressed Rosehip Seed oil.

1. Use a hydrating cleanser and then follow up with hydrating toner (rose water toner).

2. Apply the rosehip oil and then follow with The Ordinary NMF moisturizer. If you have niacinamide serum, you can apply it before the rosehip oil.

It's as easy and simple as this. I tend to use it about 3 to 4 times a week and then retinol goes once a week or twice a week.

Prior to learning about the tretinoin in rosehip, I began reading about how to use tretinoin. With the use of this oil, the skin will adjust much better to direct tretinoin when I'm ready to use it.

There are other brands like Life Flo rosehip oil

Don't forget to use your sunscreen during the day too!
