Face Skin Tags and Perianal Skin Tags

Skin tags on your face are not piles (hemorrhoids) also known as (kooko) as some Ghanaian local herbs and spices sellers tend to portray. This misconception leads people to spend so much on facial products with the intention of treating these so-called hemorrhoids.

Skin tags occur when extra cells grow in the top layers of the skin. Skin tags develop where skin rubs against skin!

They usually occur in one or more of these areas:Breasts (beneath), Eyelids, Groin, Neck creases (or where clothing or jewelry rubs against the neck) and Underarms

Skin tags are also commonly found on the sides, abdomen, or back.

So, why is there the idea that the skin tag on your face is hemorrhoids(piles) ? Well, when hemorrhoids swell at the anal side, the overlying skin stretches to create a skin tag.

From WebMD:

Perianal skin tags mainly occur after the healing of anal fissures and thrombosed external hemorrhoids.

When a perianal skin tag develops, you may begin to feel a piece of skin around the anus. This type of skin tag causes no pain in most situations. However, you may get a little uncomfortable due to the excess skin. Perianal skin tags don't cause bleeding and pain.

If you have pain, then it's most likely hemorrhoids (piles)

These are some of the methods dermatologists use to remove them!

✔️Cryosurgery

✔️Electrodesiccation

✔️Snip

You only need to remove a skin tag if it becomes irritated, feels uncomfortable, or affects your eyesight.
