What You Should Know About Skin Care

Skin care is all about using the right products in the right order to achieve your goals. What are these goals? How do you attain them?

First, your skin type and skin condition or needs are key factors when you decide to take care of your skin. They will dictate every single decision you make and as well as the outcome of every choice you make. For example, when you have acne, your products will be different from someone fighting wrinkles or even hyperpigmentation. If your purpose is protect your skin from getting damaged, your products will also differ. Before you jump on any bandwagon, these two key factors should be a priority.

In addition, skin care not a one off thing neither is it a hobby you can drop at anytime without suffering consequences. In order to enjoy your skin care, you need to understand these few points. The moment you decide to take better care of your skin, know that you are making a lifetime commitment. When you stop, you'll definitely see its effect on your skin. You can't decide you want to take cere of your skin because someone has asked you to do it. It should be your own initiative so that you stay committed when the challenges hit you.

What are the challenges with skin care? Well, finding a suitable product is all about trial and error. It's a hit or miss situation therefore be mentally ready! Some products will yield immediate results whilst others may do nothing for you. When you hit a road block, you surmount the hurdles by evaluating your entire routine. You may consider taking out some products or even going back to the basics for your skin to heal and reset. Even the most seasoned people in the skin care game mess up too!

Consider the cost and don't jump into skin care blindly. It's not cheap and that's the fact. Even the most inexpensive item can be expensive if you are broke! However, it doesn't mean there aren't affordable products around, they may be affordable but need to be restocked within a few days or weeks. You can be as minimalistic as possible and still achieve your skin care goals. It's a balancing act that you go through so be prepared. Skin care is not about being a product junkie too. You don't need to purchase every single that's hyped or mentioned by your favourite blogger or Tik toker or YouTuber!

Skin care is not about changing your skin tone. If your aim is to change your skin tone, that's not skin care. For those dealing with melasma and hyperpogmentation, getting rid of dark spots doesn't mean you should end up with bleached or lightened skin. If you want to keep your bleached skin from returning to its natural colour, doing these skin care isn't for you. The products you find on the shelves are targeting specific issues and keeping bleached skin tone isn't one of them. These serums, washes and moisturizers are aimed at hydration, repair, healing, protecting and many more. Once you start moving away from the lightening products, expect your skin colour to darken. That's not the end! As you treat your skin, you r natural skin tone will return.

Learn to accept your skin's limitation and work with it. You can't stop the pimples but you can find ways to keep it under control or even clear it up when it rears its head. You can also prevent dark spots and even slow down the wrinkle process. You shouldn't let social media deceive you to assume you can have perfect skin care. It's impossible!

Products are not magical items hence don't expect them to work within days! It takes weeks for the skin cells to renew themselves and the duration  depends on your age. If you have a 28 day cycle, allow for 3 or 4 cycles to judge a product. If you have 40 day cycle, your wait time is even longer. The reason people give up is because of the expectation that they will have the glass skin they see online in a matter of days. Most of the influencers have been doing skin care for years in order to reach where they are and you can't force your skin to hi beyond its capacity. We love instant gratification but you can't have that in skin care!

Lastly, remember that there will be failures and successes and they are all to help you keep your skin healthy.
